What is LIN Bus
LIN (Local Interconnect Network) is a low-cost serial communication network used to realize the control of distributed electronic systems in automobiles. Ideal for applications that do not place high demands on the bandwidth, performance, or fault tolerance of the network. LIN bus is the complement of CAN bus, its reliability and performance are lower, but the cost is also relatively low.
Features of LIN
1. Lower cost (if the requirements for speed or fault tolerance are low)
2. Commonly used in vehicle windows, wipers, air conditioners, etc.
3. There is only one master node and a maximum of 16 slave nodes in the LIN cluster
4. There is only one signal line (need to cooperate with the ground line), the baud rate is 1-20 kbit/s, and the cable can be up to 40 meters long
5. The time-triggered schedule can guarantee the delay time between messages
6. Variable data length (2, 4, 8 bytes)
7. LIN bus supports error checking, checksum configuration
8. The working voltage is 12V
9. The physical layer is based on ISO 9141 (K line)
10. Support sleep mode and wake up
11. There are more than 10 LIN nodes on new cars now
